An historic part of the Dandenong Ranges resounded with song in December 1997 as members of the local community gathered at St Cuthbert’s Church, Menzies Creek to sing Christmas Carols. It was the first event at the church for over eight years.
Anne had always had a dream to own an old church, without being specific she had imagined turning it into a home.
In 2008 Anne became a registered marriage celebrant, another dream that had been on the backburner for a long time. It happened that these two dreams came together in 2010, with the church, St Cuthbert’s Wedding Chapel, being used not as a home, as an intimate, boutique wedding chapel where she can offer the personal touch and service, so important for your wedding day.
Steve Holmes is the Site Manager and together with Anne Aldridge, a Civil Marriage Celebrant are co-owners of the Iconic Pioneer Church, now privately owned, secular St Cuthbert's Wedding Chapel at Menzies Creek. Steve is a committed Railway/Steam and Heritage Preservationist and an avid digital photographer, especially of railways, heritage buildings and his first love, the Dandenong Ranges, some of his photographs are showcased here. He is also a volunteer locomotive driver on the Puffing Billy railway, another icon of the Dandenong Ranges.
